The civility of GOP politics is mindboggling. Their attachment to reason over rhetoric, and substance over partison hackmanship ought to inspire us to fight for the deliberative democracy that the GOP envisions.
Take, for today's inspiration, Representative Tom Cole (R-Oklahoma), who has so carefully and thoughtfully detailed the positions of Democrats and Republicans. In particular, he said that a vote against the re-election of President Bush is like supporting Adolph Hitler during World War II. Further, says Cole, "If George Bush loses the election, Osama bin Laden wins the election."
Really folks. Let's see some attempt to reach these levels of civility.
